The Writer, not the singer...

Steven Page is a recent graduate of the Metropolitan State University of Denver from the Littleton area looking to expand himself as a writer of both fiction and hockey. He's been published in several literary magazines including The Metrosphere and is a contributor to the well known and established SBNation blog, Mile High Hockey

My Own Words:
When I was young, I had two dreams. One was to be an NHL hockey player, the other was to be a writer. For much of my youth, I pursued these goals. One of them ultimately slipped away from me, but it still lives on through my continued work toward acheiving the other goal. In many ways, I have already acheived the second dream, but it is in our nature to strive for more. These two dreams live on in the two types of writing I specialize in.

Fiction Writer:

Like everyone else, I love a good story. Since I was a kid I loved to read and I loved to write stories that peers and siblings would eat up. I loved entertaining people and bringing a chill of inspiration up their spine. I loved making them think and making them believe. That passion has always stayed with me and I've pursued it well into my adult life. My stories have become more complex and intelligent than the ones I wrote as a child, but they are always written with the same boyish love. Today I write pieces that involve faith, realism, and the human psyche.

Sports Writer:

I'll never be an NHL player. I've come to terms with that, but that doesn't mean I can't still be involved with the game. By some divine intervention, my family moved to Colorado at the very same time the Colorado Avalanche franchise did. I fell in love with the team and the game of hockey. While my fortunes and talent never made me a player, I realized I could combine my love of hockey with my writing a year or so ago and started a blog called Avaholics Anonymous. It took off, and I'm now a staff writer for Mile High Hockey.
